Healthy Eating & The Eatwell Guide

The Eatwell Guide.png

Healthy eating habits instilled in early years can lead to better dietary choices and a lifelong relationship with food.

By promoting healthy eating, parents and caregivers can support children's physical and mental well-being, setting them up for a healthier future.

The Eatwell Guide is a UK government tool designed to promote a healthy, balanced diet. It illustrates the recommended proportions of different food groups, including fruits, vegetables, starchy carbohydrates, proteins, and dairy, to help individuals achieve a balanced diet. Launched in March 2016, it replaced the previous eatwell plate and serves as a visual guide for daily food intake.

Starting Reception

PHOTO - Starting Reception.jpg

Your child’s journey to school starts at home.

We understand that all children develop at their own pace, and that we’re all learning from birth. When it’s time to start school, some children will need more help than others.

There are key skills that schools expect children to be learning before their first day. Practicing these will make your child’s journey to Reception as positive as possible.

If your child is already at nursery, in pre-school, or with a childminder, those professionals will work with you and your child to help get them ready.

There’s lots you can do at home to build your child’s confidence and independence, helping them feel emotionally and practically prepared to start school.

A coalition of early years organisations has come together to create Starting Reception, a clear, practical definition of school readiness that parents can use to ensure their child is ready to start reception.
