Autumn Term 2025

We have been very busy this term, starting with learning all about me, my family, and my community. We discovered which crops grow in Autumn, how & where they grow, and how they are harvested. We learnt about the wonderful animals that we might see in Autumn, where they live & what they eat. We had a full week of construction: planning, moving, digging & building & learnt how to work as a team to achieve the best outcome!

We learnt lots of new letter sounds, what words begin with those sounds, and how to form the letters. We had some fabulously colourful weeks looking at primary colours, experiencing colour mixing & celebrating Diwali, Bonfire Night & Hull Fair. We voted on our favourite movies, & sung, danced, & role-played our way through the stories.

We were very excited to finish the term by inviting our families in for 2 Stay & Play Christmas events where we spent the morning Christmas crafting before retelling the Nativity story & singing our favourite Christmas songs.

Community Project with
Wolfreton School & Sixth
Form College

We were very proud to be asked to take part in this year's

Wolfreton School & Sixth Form College's community Christmas stocking art event.

Every child and every staff member at Preschool decorated one square to produce this wonderful patchwork stocking.

It will be on display in the Forum at Wolfreton School.

Summer Term 2025

This term we have loved learning about the world around us, and have visited some amazing places!

We have looked at how we can travel, where we could travel to, and what we could do, see and eat when we get there.

Overall we think Italy and USA were favourite, with gelato & pizza, and hot dogs & milk shake, although both camping UK style and dancing the Flamenco came a close second!

We hope you all have an amazing summer wherever you go!

June 2025

This year for the West Hull Villages Scarecrow Hunt, the children made Old MacDonald and his farm animals.

They worked very hard making all the animals and placing them carefully in the pen to keep them safe while Old MacDonald had a rest in his chair!

We hope you enjoy all the wonderful scarecrows again this year.

Happy Easter

from all of us to all of you!

Spring Term 2025

Such a fun term!

We started off going 'Back-to-Basics' to see where our imaginations could take us in a room full of cardboard boxes, leading to fantastic games, creations, teamwork and collaborative play.

We celebrated Chinese New Year of the Snake in true, colourful style, dug for dinosaur bones & fossils, and sailed the Seven Seas searching for treasure!

We formed our own band in music week, continued our weekly yoga sessions, and went 'everything red' for Red Nose Day.

We had a full week of dressing up leading up to World Book Day, with lots of familiar stories plus some previously unknown-to-us stories too. We always love to discover new books! The children (& staff!) all looked amazing in their fabulous costumes.

With Spring in the air, we looked at the life-cycles of frogs, butterflies, and plants, what grows where, and what we have in our gardens.

Our last week was all about Easter - egg hunts, Easter bonnet parades, baking, songs & dances, and, of course, chocolate!

This year, World Book Day lasted a full week at Preschool!

So many fantastic costumes from the children and staff alike.

We read old favourites, discovered new favourites, made our own books, sequenced pictures to tell a story and played out stories with props and dress up, and a little artistic license!

We love reading at Preschool

Chinese new
year 2025

The children loved finding out about Chinese traditions, lucky colours, numbers, fruit & animals.

They tried Chinese food using chopsticks, listened to traditional Chinese music & danced a fabulous Dragon dance with the dragon they had made.

We looked at traditional Chinese clothing and writing & practised how to say Happy New Year in Chinese.

Autumn Term 2024

We have had such a fun term, with lots of new starters. We are always so proud of how quickly the children, new & old, settle into/back into the Preschool routine.

We have looked at Me & My Family, Our Community, Farms, Autumn, Space, and much, much more.

We have learnt new songs and dances, with The Hokey Cokey being a crowd favourite!

We have raised money for both Children in Need and Dove House Hospice, and we had the most exciting 2 days when Mums, Dads, Grandmas & Grandads came in for our Stay & Plays.

A very busy term indeed!

Summer Term 2024

It has been another busy term!

In between our Art Show, scarecrow making and important visitors, we have been pilots, visiting other countries, knights and dragons, and deep sea divers.

We learnt about lots of different sports and even played American football. We cheered England on in the Euro's as best we could but maybe we'll need to cheer just a little louder next time!

The term finished with our own sports day - a Funfit display for the parents/carers to come and watch and cheer us on!

What a fabulous term it has been.

We are always very sad to say 'Goodbye' to our school leavers but we couldn't be more proud of them and we know they will smash it at Primary School.

They'll be lucky to have you!

People Who Help Us

People Who Help Us

This week, for our 'People Who Help Us' topic, we were very excited to welcome lots of important visitors to Preschool.

They explained what jobs they do, and why, showed us their very smart uniforms, and we asked them lots of interesting questions!

We learnt how to stay healthy and safe from our lovely Nurse and what happens if you have hurt yourself and have to go to hospital. The Police showed us all their exciting equipment and let us sit in their car and put the flashing lights on!

The Fire Service brought their engine and let us spray the water hose. We even heard the very loud sirens.

We all now know the important number to call if we need emergency help - 999!

What an amazing week it has been. Thank you to all our visitors for coming in and for always being there to help us.

Peppa's Garden at Preschool

For this year's West Hull Villages Scarecrow Hunt, the children chose to create Peppa's Garden.

I think you'll agree they have done a wonderful job!

They finished it off with lots of rocks that they had painted at home and brought in - the perfect finishing touch!

We hope you have as much fun looking at all the local scarecrows as we did making ours.

Spring Term 2024

A very short, but definitely a fun-filled term!

We celebrated Chinese New Year of the Dragon, with lots of crafts, dances and dressing up, and even learnt to use chopsticks, tasting foods from around the world.

We looked at the life-cycle of plants and sowed bulbs to take home and for our Preschool garden.

We listened to different genres of music, played lots of instruments and learnt different styles of dance from tap, ballet and line dancing, through to the waltz.

We ended the term with a wonderful week about Easter and created a fantastic display of eggs and bonnets that we had decorated at home and brought in.

Autumn Term 2023

What a busy term we have had! We have learnt all about 'us', what we like and where we live. We have loved learning about hibernating animals and re-enacting Fairytales.

This year we had a change from our traditional Nativity Play and Christmas concert. Instead, we invited our Mums, Dads, Grandparents and carers to come in for a 'Stay & Play'.

It was such fun and we loved showing them what we do at Preschool.

We made lots of Christmas crafts with them, dressed up,  and sang Christmas songs around our Nativity scene.

We hope they enjoyed it as much as we did.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year.

What a lot we have packed into this term!

We have been Pirates, Circus performers and Jungle explorers. We celebrated King Charles' Coronation in true style, went over and under water, looked at all different transport and had visits from Fire fighters with their engine, the Police with their car, a Nurse and an ice-cream van.

We finished with our Graduation ceremony and sports day.

We wish our leavers all the best fun and excitement for their new Primary School adventures. We will miss you.

Congratulations Class of 2023!

The Coronation

The children have had a very regal week learning all about the Coronation and King Charles III. We had a tea party fit for a King, made glorious crowns, flags, bunting and paper chains, formed a marching band, rode in a horse-drawn carriage, and learnt how to do a royal wave, to name but a few!

We hope you all have wonderful celebrations to mark such a momentous occasion.

Happy Easter

Spring Term 2023

What a wonderful term we have had! We went 'Back-to-Basics' with a week of cardboard boxes, allowing the children's imaginations to run wild, had a very informative and raucous Dinosaur week, and a fantastic World Book Day. We have looked at how we grow, how plants grow, and learnt all about farm animals. We even milked a cow!

But the highlight of the term has to have been the Art Display... a fantastic display of all the children's work from September to now, which the parents and carers thoroughly enjoyed looking at.

The children all came dressed in red or wearing fancy dress costumes for a fun-filled Red Nose Day and took home a red nose bun they had made.

We managed to raise a fantastic £176 through all the wonderful donations.

Thank you!

At our Christmas Nativity and concert this year, we raised money for The Baby Unit Fund which is in place to support and implement the development of Neonatal care and to improve and provide facilities for parents of babies in NICU.

We raised an incredible £327.00.

We have discovered all about other countries traditions, dress, language and food.

But one of our most favourite topics has definitely been Space.
